About our Psychologist:

1. How many years’ experience do you have practicing/helping clients?
16 Years
2. What do you find most rewarding about working with people who have depression?
Clients with depressive symptoms such as feelings of hopelessness and negativity continue in therapy believing there must be a better way.  Through determination and commitment and being open to change, slowly some light brightens their horizons.  It's those 'glimpses' of optimism that are most rewarding to me.  The therapy is working!
3. What do you find most rewarding about working with people who have anxiety?
I feel most rewarded when my clients who have not been in therapy for some time return and thank me for the insights they have learned about themselves and how the interventions discussed have improved their relationships with others.
4. What do you find most rewarding about working with people who are stressed?
We live with stress daily.  I feel most pleased when my clients inform me that, even though the 'busyness' of their lives has not changed, they have developed (through appropriate interventions) a resilience to cope with the stresses of daily existence.
5. How do you help clients feel comfortable and supported?
My office is calming and professionally presented, and my manner is gentle, reassuring, supportive and validating.
6. What methodologies and/or approaches do you find most helpful?
I have an eclectic approach to therapy.  I combine Cognitive-Behavioural, Mindfulness, and Behavioural approaches.  However, it's the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client that is most significant regardless of therapies used.
7. What have clients said that you have helped them with the most?
Clients have referred to my warmth and genuineness as two significant factors in helping them.
8. What is the most heart-warming feedback you've received from a client?
That through my interventions their anxiety and stress has become more manageable.  And, of course, if that client refers others to me.
9. List 3 things that your friends and family describe you?
Disciplined, patient and compassionate.
10. List 3 strengths that you have as a Psychologist?
Empathic, genuine and supportive.
11. Why do you love this work?
I love this work because when people come to me feeling stressed, overwhelmed and anxious etc, I see them at their most vulnerable and I can make a positive difference to their lives.  It's about making our clients feel more optimistic, less anxious and better equipped to manage the challenges of daily life.
